Look closely and you will see
that Tacoma Girl’s face is a
composite of four women,
representational of the diverse
ethnicity of the city. The upper
left is Asian, upper right is
African-American, lower left is
Caucasian and lower right is
Hispanic. Tacoma Girl is floating
on a background of Chihuly
glass, the downtown mural art of
Alice in Wonderland and
naturally; a raindrop-covered
window. She wears an umbrella
hat topped with Andy Warhol’s
flower design for the Tacoma
Dome. Some of her favorite
places are Frisco Freeze, Brown
and Haley, Elephant Car Wash
and Bob’s Java Jive. And of
course, She is a rock-n-roller,
never leaving her guitar behind.

many recognizable landmarks.
She is smiling because for the
most part, She is happy being a
