Madonna of the Gold Eternal Circle
(From "The World of She" Series)
Original: 11"x14", Digital Composite.
Christian doctrine declares Mary
the ultimate mother.
Miraculously giving birth to
Jesus although a virgin, She is at
the summit of female saints,
worshipped, adored and prayed
to continually since living 2,000
years ago. What She must have
endured explaining to everyone
that “I am with child, but I’ve
not been with any man.” Today,
no one would accept this
statement, and yet most
Christians don’t question the
immaculate conception as told
in the Bible.
In this painting, Mary’s love for
Her son is represented by the
never-ending gold circle. The
Easter Lilies symbolize Christ’s
resurrection. Framed in the
shape of the Holy Cross are
miniature paintings of Jesus in
the manger; Joseph, Mary and
Jesus fleeing to Egypt, Christ in
the wilderness, the Last Supper,
and the Crucifixion.
